I’ve started reading Project Hail Mary (I guess I’ll watch the movie eventually, everyone seems to like it so far) and I find it to be a fun science fiction tale though I’m only about a fifth of the way through. Less than a fifth into what we hope is a long and illustrious MLB career, the Cubs threw less of a Hail Mary and more of a no-brainer in extending Pete Crow-Armstrong, at least reportedly:

It’s a six-year deal starting in 2027 worth $115MM, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. That means it buys out Crow-Armstrong’s four arbitration seasons and what would have been his first two free agent years.
