As expected – or at least hoped – after Boston University’s playoff exit yesterday, the Caps have made it official, signing defenseman Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract beginning this season.
Hutson has been one of the team’s most highly ranked prospects since being drafted in 2024. The 19-year-old has put up 80 points in 74 games played, leading his team in scoring this season (and finishing last season second in points) while racking up a ton of honors – most recently being named to Hockey East’s First All-Star Team for the second straight season. He was also a big part of Team USA’S World Junior Championship gold medal-winning squad in 2025 alongside new teammate Ryan Leonard.
